Deputy Director, Legislation and Government Affairs

Alex brings over a decade of public policy experience from time spent working on a broad range of issues in the Capitol, the private sector, and at California state agencies.

Before joining the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control at the beginning of 2021, Alex worked at the Department of Consumer Affairs as a legislative manager where he worked on bills impacting all 37 of the Department’s boards, bureaus, and programs. Notably, Alex oversaw the legislative portfolio of the Bureau of Cannabis Control since its inception in 2016 and was closely involved in the consolidation efforts to house the state’s cannabis regulatory functions under a single department.

Alex graduated from the University of Santa Cruz with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a minor in History.
